THE ROOTS

At the beginning it was a famous craft tailoring shop and still today, in one of the firms they jealously keep a very heavy tailor’s table. Today that table is still full of pieces of fabrics of model samples, sketches and photos from catwalks, threads and embroideries for the new collections.

In 1963 they think about the great return in Verona. Thousand metres of building site are acquired from the aristocratic Guberni family in Sandrà, near Lazise, close to Verona, on the shores of the Lake of Garda; in a short time the first industrial shed raises with its modern structure, which is still now functional and up-to-date: Confezioni Martinelli.

In 1968 Versal was founded and from it many other firms were started up; they all are small-sized, but extremely competitive and functional, and they will raise the industrial phenomenon of “ready-to-wear fashion” in Verona district, in a very limited land, but with peculiar features: Mozzecane, Nogarole Rocca, Castelnuovo del Garda, Sandrà. Nowadays this land and this productive chain have been recognized by a Venetian Regional Law as “Verona ready-to-wear fashion district

Following the trend of the industrial development of Seventies and Eighties, Versal Group becomes a company and from an industrial production company it gets to financial interest holding company to participate in other business, not only in textile and fashion field but also in real estate one. Of the past craft tailoring firm today it certainly remains a deep passion for the “beautiful and well made” work.
